In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Lebanese School of Social Formation (ELFS) at Saint Joseph University in Beirut (USJ), Alumni of the school have shared their experiences and provided insights into the paths they have taken since their time at this institution. Let's explore the testimony of Micheline Houssainy Timbrell, an Alumna of the ELFS, from the class of 1992, currently serving as the CEO of Phi Management Group.

Reflecting back, I still recall the old building in Jounieh; we lived in that old villa like a family, surrounded by the chaos of war and the fear of tomorrow. ELFS was a second home. Those three amazing years contributed to who I became today.

I never felt the pressure to outperform or to become someone different from who I am. My journey taught me a lot about myself and others. ELFS not only helped me in shaping my analytical thinking and intellect, but also my interpersonal competencies and relationships. What really made this experience so unique at that time was a combination of many important and small details:

The curriculum was so diverse, the program very hands-on, the building was very casual and familiar, and most importantly, the PEOPLE : The impact each had on me: the intellect of Micheline Saad, the interesting discussions with Mimi, Dany, May, Maryse, and others, the warm welcome and smile of Dede, Sœur Noha’s wise guidance, Mrs. Kahi’s continuous support, Jamile’s fascinating courses (till today I still remember some of her sessions!), the welcome breaks with Jocelyne at the library, and later on my important work with Samira and the Tripoli team and many other professionals that it will be so unfair not to mention them.

Thank you, Carmel Wakim, for always being there for me and for many other students from the beginning and, amazingly, till now, bringing me back, even though my career path has shifted completely, to the ELFS nest.

Thank you ELFS! And wishing you all the best on this special occasion and much, much more success in the years to come!
